Shutdown for eighth consecutive day demanding undivided Nawalparasi

Locals west from Dauune of Nawalparasi continued to shutdown on Monday, the eighth consecutive day, demanding a unified Nawalparasi. Markets, financial and educational institutions, transport services remained completely closed in the district due to the agitation led by the Unified Nawalparasi Struggle Committee. Ram Bhawan Yadav of the Struggle Committee said that they would continue the agitation until the demand of an integrated Nawalparasi is addressed. Locals west from Dauune area were also agitated against the splitting of Nawalparasi in the proposed delineation of federal states. Meanwhile, normal life in Nawalparasi district was affected due to Tharuhat Struggle Committee and Madhesi Alliance. Nine banda enforcers injured Nine banda enforcers were injured at Basabasahi chowk in the district in course of banda. Three vehicles were torched and some two dozens vehicles were vandalized. Some two dozens of people of both sides were injured in a clash between police and banda enforcers. Unified Nawalparasi Struggle Committee, United Loktantrik Madhesi Alliance, Tharuhat Tharuwan Struggle Committee and CPN -Maoist have called a separate shutdown in the district.
