Madhesi Front calls indefinite banda in Terai-Madhesh-Tharuhat

The meeting of the Madhesi Front, an alliance of the Madhesh-centric parties that comprises of Federal Socialist Forum Nepal, Terai-Madhesh Loktrantik Party, Sadvawana Party and Terai-Madhesh Savawana Party has decided to call an indefinite shutdown in the Terai-Madhesh-Tharuhat. The Front imposed a two-day nationwide banda on August 16-17 along with the 33-party alliance led by CPN-Maoist as a protest against the proposed six provinces. Today's meeting of the Front decided that although the shutdown would end in the hilly and mountainous regions of the country at 4 pm today, banda would continue in the Terai region. The meeting also requested the government for the unconditional release of the leaders and cadres arrested while enforcing the banda.
