A teenage boy was beaten black and blue for allegedly attempting rape on a 14-year-old girl in Birti Prastoka VDC of Rautahat on Sunday evening. Police said parents of the victim had caught Phul Mohammad from Birti Prastoka VDC-1 of the district red-handed while he was about to rape the girl. It was reported that the suspect was tutoring the girl for the last few days. The boy entered the victim’s home in his neighbourhood and approached the girl who was asleep at around 10 pm yesterday, police added. After thrashing and injuring the alleged perpetrator, locals handed him over to police. Mohammad is undergoing treatment at the Birgunj-based Narayani Sub-Regional Hospital after primary treatment at the local Katahariya Primary Health Centre, informed DSP Sudhir Raj Shahi of the District Police Office. The suspect is a 12th grader at the Public Campus in Birgunj and was at home on a vacation, according to police.
