Girija Devi Chaudhary, 45, of Khoksar Prawah in Shambhunath VDC-1 has filed a complaint against Dhorai Chaudhary, 40, and his wife Bhuniya Devi Chaudhary, 35, at District Police Office (DPO) on August 17 accusing them of mistreating her on the charge of being a witch. Saying that they accused her of casting spell on their daughter Sunita, 17 making her ill, making a dog bite Dhorai, Girija said adding they beat her up consecutively on August 15, 16 and 17. Her husband Govinda said that Girija was being abused on the charge of being a witch even when they had a common cold. ASI Harimaya Shrestha said that the DPO had written a letter to Area Police Office, Rupani on August 17 asking it to investigate the complaint. Girija Devi is disabled due to paralysis and is a mother of three daughters and two sons.
