Madhes, Saptari, Hanumannagar Kankalini, Ward 2

Protesters have burnt a police station in Jhalai near Bhardaha of Saptari during the demonstration, which started right after the curfew was lifted at 5 am this morning. The local administration had clamped curfew in Bhardaha from 4 pm Tuesday to 5 am Wednesday after a demonstration turned violent after the death of local Rajiv Raut, 35, in police firing during a clash with the demonstrators. More than a dozen others were injured in the incident. Situations remained strained in Bhardaha since Monday night. The clash continued on Tuesday and turned fierce after protesters alleged the police of using excessive force to open the highway and started pelting stones at police.
