Locals took a headteacher under control accusing him of sexual harassment at Ghiring Sundhara VDC in Tanahun on Friday. The locals held headteacher Khum Lal Nepali of Mahendra Jyoti High School and handed him over to police yesterday. The incident came to light after a 10th grader attempted suicide leaving a suicide note on Thursday night. Locals had prevented the girl from killing herself. ASI Hira Thapa Magar of Gajarkot Police Post said that villagers had handed over the accused headteacher to the police after his involvement in the case. He said that the headteacher has been living in a rented room belonging to the girl. ASI Thapa Magar, quoting the victim, said that the headteacher had lured the girl time and again earlier. Nepali has been kept in the custody of Area Police Office, Belchautara. Inspector Krishna Prasad Aryal of Area Police Office, Belchautara, said that police are investigating the case. He said action would be taken under the law of the land if Nepali was proven guilty.
