The police had reported 50 completely damaged houses in Machhapuchre VDC. However, the number decreased to 42 on inspection from technical personnel. Later, the number plummeted to 25. There was a dispute after it was found that most of the houses that were reported damaged belonged to people who had close ties to political parties. According to the VDC secretary, Jagannath Adhikari, only 3 houses turned out to be completely damaged.
Similarly, in Deurali VDC, technical personnel reported 50 completely damaged houses. However, the local political mechanism has raised the number to 144. VDC Secretary says that under this condition, it hasn't been possible to distribute relief to the genuine victims. There's a need for reassessment of completely damaged houses.
