Thirteen cases of rape and attempted rape in district in one year

District Police Office (DPO), Sindhuli has informed that there were eight cases of rape filed in the fiscal year 2014/ 15. There were another five cases of attempt to rape. Inspector Rajendra Thapa of the DPO said that all the registered cases were filed at the District Court. He further informed that out of 110 cases registered by the DPO, two were the cases of murder, two of trafficking, and one of polygamy. There were 40 cases of domestic violence were registered at the Women and Children Service Centre of which 31 ended in reconciliation while in seven cases, the complainants did not come into contact for follow-up. WCSC head Khil Kumari Raut said such cases where the complainants do not come back, they are likely to have settled in the villages.
