The general strike called by Madhesi Morcha has entered into its 11th day in Janakpur affecting the normal life across the district. People are facing severe difficulties as the prices of daily commodities have soared in the district. The prices of vegetables, pulses and other items have skyrocketed as the halt in vehicular movement has cut off the supplies. Lack of transportation has also forced migrant workers to pay high fare in air transport to fly to Kathmandu and leave for foreign employment. Banda activists have burned tyres on the main market areas since early morning. Government offices have also remained shut affecting the service-seekers in the district.
