In a move that would further derail normal life in Terai, the Tharuhat/Tharuwan leaders have decided to extend the bandh they have been imposing in the 22 Terai districts since the last 21 days up to September 17. Chairman of Tharu Kalyankari Sabha Dang, Tejman Chaudhary confirmed the extension of the bandh. He however said that since the centre had left it upon the leaders of the district on how to go about the protest programme, there would be no general strike in Dang. He said that peaceful demonstrations would however continue to pressure the government to fulfill the demands of the Tharus.
