Man brutally thrashes wife in Panchthar

2015-09-01

Province 1, Panchthar, Falgunanda

A forty-two-year-old of Nawamidanda-5 in Panchthar district has been brutally thrashed by her husband on Tuesday night. Shantimaya Aangdembe, who sustained serious injuries, is receiving treatment at Panchthar District Hospital. She fractured both her arms, has scars all over her body and feels severe pain on her left leg. Dr Pawanjung Rayamajhi of Panchthar hospital said Shantimaya is recovering well. The husband, Moti Bahadur, is said to have tied her with a rope before manhandling her. “He then beat me with a large stick until I went unconscious,” Shantimaya told the Post. Shantimaya managed to file a complaint with the police explaining how her husband and stepsons beat her time and again. However, the husband and stepsons were soon released by the police after they promised to ‘correct their mistakes’. She was also twice hospitalised last January and October after being severely trashed by her family members. “They violently beat me every day and it seems as if they have some kind of connection with the police since the authority does not take any action against them,” she bemoaned. Shantimaya got married to Moti Bahadur four years ago. Her first husband had gone to Malaysia five years ago and has also married again. Shantimaya’s son from her first husband, Sushil Sawa, 18, demanded legal action for the regular thrashing of his mother.
