Arjun Adhikari, 30, of Muralibhanjyang in Nilkantha Municipality-8 has been tortured in police custody on September 6. Adhikari informed rights activists about the incident after being released. He said that policemen beat him in front of the custodial room at the District Police Office. According to Adhikari, police summoned him after he was accused of dropping a mobile phone belonging to a policeman on September 5. He added that police made him pay a fine of Rs 1500 for the damaged phone. He urged rights activists and media persons to take steps for action against the policemen involved in torturing him. The victim has sustained bruises in both legs and in the face.
