One person died when police opened fire at demonstrators in a clash that ensued after police attempted to open the blocked East-West highway in Bhardaha of Saptari district. Hundreds of protesters tried to prevent the police from clearing the obstacles posed on the highway, consequently causing the two sides to clash. Protesters have blocked the road using boulders and fallen trees. Hundreds of vehicles have stranded due to the blocked highway.
