Three demonstrators died when police opened fire in Mahottari on Wednesday afternoon. "We've received reports that three protesters who sustained bullet injuries died while undergoing treatment at the hospital," SP of Mahottari, Saurav Rana told Setopati. "We're verifying the information." Rana informed that the protesters surrounded the District Police and pelted stones. Likewise, they also set fire to the residence of justice at the District court. "We fired several rounds of tear gas shells to contain protesters. But the protesters went further unruly and attacked the police, so we were forced to open fire," Rana said.
