2015-09-09

Madhes, Mahottari, Gaushala

55-year-old Piyariya Devi of Bharatpur VDC-3 has died in Gaushala Primary Health Centre on September 9 because the staffs could not open the medicine store’s door. Piyariya Devi was bitten by a cobra as she was cleaning her house in the morning. She was rushed to the hospital for treatment but could not be saved, Area Police Office Gaushala said. Hospital in-charge Dr Ashok Kumar Yadav conceded that she died because of the failure of the staffs. The anti-venom dial was kept in a store but the key was not with Dr Yadav. One of the keys to the store was with lab assistant Sanjay Sah and one each with Hospital’s office runners Dal Bahadur Thapa and Chandrakala Devi Mahato. Dr Yadav said though all three were asked to come to the hospital with the key as soon as possible but could not, resulting in Piyariya’s death. The bereaved family has warned that they would not take the body unless the guilty people are not arrested and the family not compensated.
