Limbuwan-called banda throws life out of gear

A normal life has been thrown out of gear following band enforced by Limbuwan Struggle Committee formed in coordination with the Kirant Yakthung Chumlung (KYC), demanding autonomous Limbuwan Province comprising nine districts to the east of Arun-Koshi River. The two-day banda called by Limbuwan Struggle Committee has hit the normal life in the eastern part of Nepal. The movement has been initiated with an alliance of seven pro-Limbuwan parties demanding nine districts including Jhapa, Morang and Sunsari in the province based on the historical background, of late. The banda has been called in nine eastern districts - Panchthar, Taplejung, Ilam, Jhapa, Tehrathum, Dhankuta, Sankhuwasabha, Morang and Sunsari. Parties including Limbuwan Party Nepal, Limbuwan National Mukti Morcha affiliated to UCPN (Maoist), Sanghiya Socialist Forum Nepal have been in the struggle committee in coordination with the KYC. Schools, colleges, transportation and factories have remained closed in the region.
