A rally of legal professionals in Jaleshwor led by Mahottari Bar Association Chairperson Bijay Thakur has burnt copies of the new constitution after reaching Buddhijiwi Chok in the district on Thursday.
Expressing solidarity with the ongoing Madhes agitation, Chairperson Thakur said that they burnt the constitution passed by the CA because it was against the aspirations of Madhes and it failed to incorporate the issues of people living in Tarai.
Mahottari Bar Association, in its 4-point statement, has put forth its demand that electoral constituencies must be decided on the basis of percentage of population along with declaration of a separate Madhes state which includes 22 districts of Tarai.
Likewise, the statement also expressed serious concerns over the decision of Central Bar Association to welcome the new constitution.
