The businessmen of Lahan Bazar have begun opening the shops in Lahan Bazar after the UDMF did not call off bandh despite approaching dashain.
The general strike going on since August 15 began opening in defiance of the bandh on October 13 bringing the normal like into gear. The markets are quite crowded as people throng out to buy their daily and festival needs.
District Chambers of Commerce Chairperson Sunil Kumar Mahato said that the businessmen had opened their shops on their own after their efforts to open the market failed.
UDMF’s Rakesh Jha said that the bandh was relaxed and bazaar, shops and banks were allowed open because of incoming festivals. He added that despite this slackening, their agitation would go on.
The two months of bandh has affected the public life. The daily wage earners are badly hit so were transporters.
