The indefinite curfew imposed by the local administration since Monday afternoon in Birgunj has been lifted until 1 pm on Wednesday. As of this morning, the situation remains normal in Birgunj. There are no signs of protests yet. Tensions ran high in Birgunj when police removed the agitating protestors from Miteri Bridge where they were staging sit-in for 40 days on early Monday morning. An Indian national had died when police opened fire to contain the protests on Monday afternoon. Local administration had clamped indefinite curfew from 3 pm Monday to prevent further unwanted incidents and deployed large number of security persons in the city.
