Child marriage has been stopped with the initiation of Police and District Child Welfare Committee at Biratnagar Municipality-6 on November 3. Local people informed to the stakeholders about the child marriage of a 14-year-old boy and a 16 –year- an old girl of Birtanagar sub-metropolitan. Child marriage was stopped in coordination with the NGOs working in the Child sector and Police as marrying before reaching the legal age creates the problem and violates the Child Rights, said Sunita Tamrakar, Child officer at District Child Welfare Committee.
