Cadres of the agitating United Democratic Madesi Front (UDMF) torched a motorcycle in Lahan-Thadi raod section that was used in transporting an LPG gas cylinder from an Indian town of Laukaha on Friday evening.
According to Area Police Office of Maheshwari, the motorcycle (Sa Pa 5689) belonged to Shree Ram Sah of Haripur, Saptari district. “I had brought the gas as we had to perform the funeral rites of my grandmother who had recently died,” said Sah.
“Four protesters stopped my motorcycle and set fire to it despite my plea. My motorcycle turned into ashes right in front of my eyes,” he added. Following the incident, enraged locals of Haripur reached the site of the incident site thrashed two of the agitators--central committee member of Federal Socalist Forum Raj Lal Yadav and cadre Prayag Lal Yadav.
The duo was rescued by policemen. DSP Uma Prasad Chaturbedi of the Area Police Office, Lahan said they have already identified the miscreants. “We have deployed a police team to nab the accused,” she added.
