The Commission for Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) arrested Bara District Education Officer Tularam Bhandari with bribe amount received from a schoolteacher on Tuesday. A CIAA regional team detained him red-handed from a hotel in Simara. According to CIAA official Narendra Prasad Bhattarai, Bhandari was detained while accepting bribe from Bhawani Subedi, a teacher at Shanti Primary School in Gadhimai VDC-16 in the district. DEO Bhandari allegedly promised to release Subedi’s salary in exchange for Rs 10,000 in bribe. Bhattarai said the detainee will be sent to Kathmandu for further investigation. Bhandari’s supporters, however, claimed that he was innocent. They argued that Bhandrai was framed due to personal enmity.
