Tension flared up in Bara district headquarters Kalaiya on Wenesday after the cadres of Samyukta Loktantrik Madhesi Morcha took to vandalism at district party offices of the CPN-UML and Nepali Congress (NC). Police fired a warning shot into the air and lobed seven rounds of teargas canisters to take the situation under control. The tension escalated after the participants of a baton rally resorted to vandalism at NC’s district office at Motibagh and CPN-UML’s district office at Pannabagh. Morcha cadres, who were in thousands, took out a massive baton rally in Bara today. They organised the protest in line with their pre-scheduled central committee plan to press for addressing the demands of Morcha. The cadres are reported to be equipped with batons, Khukuris and spears. After the rally, Morcha organised a protest assembly calling out cadres to continue the agitations. संयुक्त लोकतान्त्रिक मधेसी मोर्चाले निकालेको लाठी जुलुसले कलैयास्थित कांग्रेस र एमालको जिल्ला पार्टी कार्यालयमा तोडफोड गर्न पुगेपछि यहाँको स्थिति तनावग्रस्त बनेको छ । प्रहरीले प्रदर्शनकारीलाई भगाउनलाई १ राउण्ड हवाई फायर र ७ राउण्ड अश्रु ग्यास चलाएको छ । आन्दोलनकारीले मोतीवागमा रहेको कांग्रेस कार्यालयमा ढुंगामुडा र तोडपछि उनीहरु पन्नावागमा रहेको एमाले कार्यालयमा तोडफोडको प्रयास गरेपछि स्थिति तनावपूर्ण भएको हो । मोर्चाले कलैयामा बुधवार बृहद् लठी जुलुस प्रदर्शन गरेको छ । गाउँ गाउँबाट आएका हजारौं मोर्चाका कार्यकर्ताले कलैया नगरमा प्रदर्शन गरेका हुन् । मधेस आन्दोलनको माग तत्काल सम्बोधन गर भन्दै केन्द्रीय पुर्वनिर्धारित कार्यक्रम अनुसार उनीहरुले प्रदर्शन गरेका हुन् । उनीहरु सबैले हातहातमा लठी, भट्टा र केहीले धारिलो हतियार खुकुरी, भला र लठीगडाँस बोकेका थिए । कलैयाको सिद्धेश्वर र श्री ३ श्री चन्द्र माविमा भेला भई देवकोटा चोक हुँदै अदालत रोडबाट बरियारपुर रोड हुँदै भरतचोकमा पुगेका थिए । भरत चोकबाट प्रदर्शनकारीहरु कलैया-वीरगन्ज सडकको भरतचोकदेखि बाल मन्दिरसम्म्ा प्रहरी र प्रशासन कार्यालय अगाडि प्रदर्शन गरेका हुन् । प्रदर्शनपछि मोर्चाले विरोधसभा गर्दै प्याकेजमा माग पुरा नगरे आन्दोलन जारी राख्ने बताएका छन् ।
