A girl who had come to Kathmandu with hopes of finding a job has reportedly fallen victim to gang rape. The girl originally from Dhangadhi had come to Kathmandu from Dhangadi with the help of a woman she was acquainted with and got raped the very next day after arriving at Kathmandu. The girl was raped on January 10 in Suvakamana Guest House of New Buspark. 40-year-old Durga Devi Ratala of Dhangadi forcibly made the girl have sexual intercourse with men under the pretext of finding her a job. The girl shared with the police that she was raped by five men in the guest house. The girl was told that she was being taken to talk about a job opportunity. However, Ratala locked her in a hotel room with five men once she got to the guest house. Police investigation revealed that Ratala was planning to employ the girl in prostitution. Chief of Women and Children's Office, Inspector Purnima Chand informed that two people including Ratala have been arrested. Police have initiated action against the arrest under the Human Trafficking Act. It was also found that Ratala had charged Rupees 10,000 from the men who raped the girl and had booked the hotel room under a false name and phone number. The girl was rescued the very next day after the incident took place.
