Madhes, Dhanusha, Janakpur, Ward 1

Saying that the constitutional amendment did not address the concerns of Madhesi people, the Madhes-centric alliances continued their protests in Janakpur on Monday as well. Leaders and cadres of Samyukta Loktantrik Madhesi Morcha and Sanghiya Samabesi Madhesi Gathabandhan carried out baton rally from Janak Chok today to put pressure on the government to address their demands. However, market places that were completely shut since Rangeli incident remained slightly opened today, whereas schools and colleges remained closed for the second consecutive days, as pre-declared by the Morcha. Tarai Madhes Sadbhawana Party Dhanusa Chairman Rup Narayan Yadav accused major political parties of amending constitution just to show the international community. Journalist Rajesh Kumar Karna said that demands of Madhesis have been partially addressed through constitution amendment. Speaking with the Post, Karna said, “We should take ownership of achievements obtained from the amendments while also continue the protest for other demands including revision of provincial boundaries.”
