Parents of abducted girls accuse Mahottari police of refusing to register FIR

Victims have claimed that District Police Office, Mahottari has refused to file FIR against the accused abductors of two girls. Rajesh Thakur, a resident of Mahottari, Itharwa-5, claimed that SP Janak Bhattarai of Mahottari did not file FIR against the abductors of his two daughters. Thakur's daughters, 10-year-old Shivani Thakur and 7-year-old Aarati Thakur were abducted on January 2 from the fields. After 11 days of abduction, they were found on January 13 under the bridge near Mahendranagar Bazar in Chireshwor municipality. Area Police Office, Sakhuwa Mahendranagar brought both girls to the Police Office and handed them over to the parents. According to the testimony of the girls, 9 people are involved in the abduction. The girls identified 5 people out of the 9 from their own village. SP Bhattarai claimed that police did not file the FIR because it was not clear whether the girls had actually been abducted.
