Rastriya Janamorcha student wing vandalizes DEO in Kanchanpur

2016-02-04

The student wing of Rastriya Janamorcha Party (RJP) has vandalized and torched District Education Office (DEO) in Kanchanpur on Thursday morning. A group of students smashed the cabin door of the District Education Officer at around 11 am. The students also took the chair of the officer to the main gate and set it on fire. According to the student wing secretariat member Mahesh Joshi, they were forced to take this step as the DEO didn't address their demands submitted 15 days ago. Changing foreign names of schools to Nepali ones, establishing education committees, reinstating displaced teachers, and publicizing teachers nominated by the school management were among the 11-point demands in the memorandum submitted by the student wing. Joshi even warned of stern action in the future if the demands were left unaddressed. However, the vice secretary of the DEO Padam Raj Bhatta informed that they haven't received any kind of memorandum from the student wing of RJP. He added that some boys entered the DEO premises and started vandalizing and setting fire to office properties.
