2016-02-10

The District Administration Office has lifted the prohibitory order it imposed around areas including the airport in Bhirahawa since the night of February 8. The DAO had prohibited sit-in, demonstration and other protest programs after the agitation of Madhes-centric parties over constitutional provisions turned violent. Chief District Officer Bishnu Prasad Dhakal said that the prohibitory order was lifted after situation turned normal. SP Buddhi Gurung said that the meeting of District Security Committee made the decision to life the restriction asserting that there was no need to continue with the prohibitory order. Bhairahawa had remained tense after Madhesi Morcha cadres tried to vandalize and torch customs office in Sunauli-Belahiya border area on August 20, 2015. The DSC had decided to enforce prohibitory order from August 22 following the incident.
