Police on Monday arrested one person with a multi-gas cell pistol from Basauti VDC, Kailali. Police suspect the seized the weapon might be the one Tharu agitators had robbed from the police during the Tikapur killings. DSP Dilipsingh Bhandari identified the arrested as Kukram Chaudhary of Hasuliya VDC.

An investigation team from the far western regional Police Office had caught Chaudhary. DSP Bhandari said police had followed Chaudhary at Kamdev community forest of Basauti VDC-3 before he was caught. In the violence of August 25 last year, it was said that a multi-gas cell pistol, communication set, and some weapons were looted from the police. Police have not disclosed the exact number of weapons that went missing.
