Police have arrested 31-year-old Bir Bahadur Tamang of Jalbire VDC-9 on March 1 on the charge of mistreating a 67-year-old woman of the same place accusing her of being a witch. Tamang is accused of mistreating her in an inebriated condition at her home in the evening of February 28. The victim had made a verbal complaint at the Area Police Office Jalbire on February 29. Police had arrested Tamang following the complaint and initiated discussion among the two sides. The case was sent to the District Police Office on March 1 after the victim refused to make an agreement. She filed a complaint at the DPO on March 1. The accused has been remanded in custody as per the court order, according to the DPO.
