Four including land revenue official arrested for selling non-existent land

Police have arrested four persons including the junior officer of Land Revenue Office Parsa - Murari Prashad Timilsina, for fraudulently selling a non-existent plot of land purported to be located at Gita temple road of Birgunj. According to SP Rajbabu Shrestha of Parsa District Police Office, junior officer Timilsina along with Indrawati Gupta of Kacharwa VDC in Bara, currently residing in Birgunj-8, Sandip Gupta (Indrawati's husband), and accomplice Rajesh Gupta were arrested for selling the non-existent plot of land to Sachendra Maharjan of Lalitpur municipality-21 for rupees eighty lakhs. Indrawati had loaned rupees forty lakhs from Prime Bank against the land before selling it to Sachendra. Police arrested the four on the basis of the complaint filed and document submitted by Sachendra. Police also suspect the involvement of the bank officials in the incident. Police suspect that junior officer Timilsina had helped to forge fake documents to show Indrawati Gupta as the owner of the non-existent plot of land. Timilsina had submitted his resignation at the Land Revenue Office after helping forge the documents. Police also suspect the involvement of other employees of the Land Revenue Office in the incident and are further investigating into the incident.
