Police clash with rice smugglers at mid-night in Parsa

Rice smugglers have attacked police in Madhawal of Jhouwa VDC on Friday night. Police fired two rounds in the air after they were attacked by the smugglers, informed the police. Police have confiscated a motorcycle used by the smugglers. ASI Surendra Shah of Parsauni Bathaha Area Police, who was involved in the operation informed that he and a fellow policeman went to the border after being informed that smugglers were illegally bringing in rice in tractors at around midnight on Friday. The smugglers resorted to intimidation after the police tried to inquire them. ASI Surendra then called two other policemen and tried to take the tractor into control.

The smugglers then called the villagers and attempted to attack the police. Police had to fire shots in the air to take the situation into control, after which the smugglers ran away. Police later took the tractor into control by deploying further men, informed SP Rajbabu Shrestha of Parsa Police. Police have confiscated the motorcycle bearing plate number Na 3 Pa 9830 used by the police. According to the police, Chintu Tiwari and Uttam Tiwari of Madhawal were engaged in rice smuggling for a long time. Police are searching for those involved in the incident.
