The District Court on March 2 has sentenced Kavita Ghimire, 21, of Baramachi VDC-2 to 10 years in prison and a fine of Rs. 50,000 for human trafficking. A single bench of District Court Judge Chinta Mani Baral issued the order convicting her of the charge. Two years ago, a case was filed against Ghimire on charge of human trafficking. Shrestedar at the District Court, Mahendra Karki said the court issued the order as per clause 15 of Human Trafficking and Transportation Control Act 2064. Similarly, under clause 17 of the same act, the court has ordered to provide Rs. 25,000 as compensation to the victim from rehabilitation fund. Two years ago, police had arrested the accused from Bandeu of Sindhupalchok while trying to traffick a 17-years-old girl. मानवबेचबिखन गरेको आरोपमा जिल्ला अदालतले फागुन १९ गते बराम्ची गाविस-२ की २१ वर्षीया कविता घिमिरेलाई १० वर्षकैद र ५० हजार जरिवानाको फैसला सुनाएको छ । जिल्ला अदालतका न्यायाधीश चिन्तामणि बरालको इजलासले आरोपितले मानवबेचबिखनको गरेको ठहर गर्दै सो फैसला सुनाएको हो । दुई वर्षअघि चौतारा 'एच' को जाहेरीले प्रतिवादी घिमिरेलाई मानवबेचबिखन विरुद्ध उजुरी परेको थियो । मानवबेचबिखन ओसारपसार तथा नियन्त्रण ऐन २०६४ को दफा ३ र सोही ऐनको दफा ४ (२) ख बमोजिमको कसुर अपराध ठहर गरी सोही ऐनको दफा १५ (ङ) (२) बमोजिम फैसला सुनाएको जिल्ला अदालतका श्रेष्तेदार महेन्द्र कार्कीले बताए । त्यसैगरी सोही ऐनको दफा (१७) बमोजिम पीडितलाई पुर्नस्थापना कोषबाट क्षतिपूर्तिस्वरुप २५ हजार भराइदिने फैसला समेत भएको अदालतले जनाएको छ । १७ वर्षीया बालिकालाई दुई वर्षअघि बेचबिखनका लागि लग्दै गरेको आरोपमा सिन्धुपाल्चोकको बन्देउबाट प्रहरीले आरोपित घिमिरेलाई गिरफ्तार गरेको थियो ।
