Rita Yadav, 25, of Pato VDC-1 and currently studying in Australia, filed a complaint of polygamy against her husband Manojkumar Yadav, 28, and his second wife Rinku Kumari Yadav, 18, at the district Police office on March 21, 2016. According to SP Bhim Prasad Dhakal, a complaint was filed by the victim’s father Rajkumar Yadav along with the email sent by Rita. The victim, a resident of east Kushaha VDC-1 in Sunsari, and Manoj were married according to social traditions at Gairikunja Athithi Sadan, Biratnagar sub-metropolis-9 on May 28, 2010. They also have a four-year-old son. Due to her family’s reluctance to support her education, the victim went to Australia on February 16, 2016, with her parent’s support to pursue a master’s degree after completion of BSc Nursing. After the victim went to Australia, the accused married the daughter of Aaurahi VDC-9 resident, Shivanarayan Yadav, Rinku on March 11, 2016.
