Police have registered a complaint against Bihari Sardar Batar, 29, resident of Makaritol in Kataiya VDC-8 on May 9, on the charge of beating a woman for allegedly being a witch. The victim, Draupatidevi Dev, 68, resident of Shambhunath municipality-4 stated to the police that, the perpetrator and three other unknown men came to her house on April 17, and beat her. Her sister-in-law was also reportedly beaten while attempting to save her. Sukumar Shah of Sambhunath municipality-8 said to the police that Sardar beat the victim saying that she was responsible for the illness of his wife. Police are looking for the other attackers who went on the run after the incident.
