Tension ran high at New Baneshwor in the Capital on Monday after the agitating government relief quota teachers clashed with police during a protest rally.
The situation in the area became tense when the relief quota teachers attempted to breach the prohibited zone. The clash ensued when the police tried to stop the agitating teachers who began their rally from Maitighar Mandala.
The agitating teachers, however, remained adamant and tried to breach the prohibited zone following which the police fired teargas shells and water-canon to disperse the protesters.
Nepal Relief Teachers Central Struggle Committee Chairman Khemraj Adhikari, talking to the Post, said some of the teachers have sustained injuries when the police fired teargas shells at them during the clash.
