Province 1, Sunsari, Koshi, Ward 8
Buchiyadevi Khatwe, a Dalit woman, from Koshi Rural Municipality-8, Sunsari was reportedly assaulted by her own family members and house guest Manita Devi Khatwe.
Human Rights activist Sivendra Karna said that Buchiyadevi whose husband is abroad was assaulted five times by her family members including her brother-in-law, sister-in-law, and mother-in-law in the past 3 years. Buchiyadevi lamented that local authorities scolded her instead of registering complaint against her brother-in-law as he is an influential person. Police however claimed that Buchiyadevi had not filed any complaint.
