Ward members in Resunga Municipality of Gulmi district resorted to manhandling on police after they tried to unlock the office of the mayor of the municipality Dilliraj Bhusal and chief administrative officer Bhaktiram Marasini which had been padlocked by dissatisfied ward members on Wednesday. Ward members elected from Nepali Congress resorted to attacks on police and journalist who were taking photographs. They also spoke very foul languages at the police and forced them out of the main gate.
The root cause behind all these was the reinstatement of Tamghas based Mahendra Namuna Secondary school's principal by Resunga Municipality. The school management committee of the school closer to Nepali Congress had appointed vice-principal of the school Yuvaraj Gyawali as the president on July 25 while the principal was on leave due to his mother's illness.
Resunga Municipality revoked the decision of the school management committee and reinstated former principal Thapa as the principal of the school after he filed a complaint at the municipality. The ward members had been agitating against the same action by the municipality office.
