Locals have blocked the highway after a cyclist died after being hit by a bus crash in Kailali. The locals agitated and blocked the highway after the death of 25-year-old Saraswati Upadhaya of Bardagoriya Rural Municipality-2.
They have blocked the highway at Baunia Bazaar on the East-West Highway, demanding compensation to the victim's family and action against the culprit. A clash also broke out between the protestors and the police after the demonstration got tensed.
Spokesperson of the District Police Office, DSP Pratik Bista said that police fired tear gas to control the situation after the protestors pelted stones at police.
Upadhyaya, who was riding a bicycle, was hit by a bus bearing number plate Na 7 Kha 930 coming from Lamki to Dhangadhi this afternoon.
Upadhyaya, who was critically injured in the accident, died while undergoing treatment at Maya Metro Hospital, Dhangadhi.
