Locals of Kamatoli of Jhapa rural municipality-3 have staged a demonstration protesting against the death of a local in police firing on Wednesday evening.
38-year-old Ramikul Alam was severely injured when security forces fired in retaliation at a group of people who attacked them while on duty.
APF personnel fired a bullet at a crowd when locals, involved in a dispute on slaughtering an ox, attacked them all of a sudden.
Alam, who was rushed to the hospital, died while receiving treatment at the Birtamod-based B&C Hospital, according to Durga Prasai, the Chairperson of the hospital.
Irate locals burnt tyres demanding action against the shooter and compensation to the family.
