Sudurpashchim, Kanchanpur, Punarbas
The squatters living in the Kanchanpur Punarbas municipality started protesting on January 7 putting forward various demands including issuance of ownership paper of the land they have been settling on for years. They stated that the commission had started an agreement to distribute land ownership certificates to the landless and squatters with most of the locals in Kanchanpur.
On 8 and 9 December, Restoration of the Squatters' Struggle Committee is preparing to begin a more aggressive demonstration, as even after the silent protest, no hearing was held.
