Advocate Pusparaj Poudel, who was arguing on behalf of the victim in the case, has received death threats from Aftab Alam. Poudel has also applied to the District Administration Office, Rautahat for the protection stating that the case had threatened his life and career.

Aftab Alam, a Nepali Congress lawmaker, was arrested in connection with an explosion and the subsequent murder of at least 23 persons in Rautahat.

Mohammad Aftab Alam, a Nepali Congress lawmaker, was taken into custody for his involvement in a bomb blast in Fradahawa, Rajpur, in the district on April 9, 2008, according to the district police. The Nepali Congress leader was elected to the federal parliament from Rautahat constituency-2 in the 2017 elections, from near the Sheikh Idris gate in Rautahat.

Alam's brother Mohommad Aftab and even his youngest son had threatened advocate Poudel on December 23, 2020, after losing the case.
