Federation of Nepali Journalists in Nuwakot was padlocked on April 20 over the issue of the election of a journalist for the selection of new leadership. The candidates for the post of chairperson and two vice-chairpersons issued a joint statement and padlocked the district branch saying that the election program is being carried out without any investigation.

The election scheduled for April 21 has been postponed because of the padlock in the office. The Central Election Committee (CEC) had canceled the branch election on April 7 over irregularities allegations and directed to hold the election again on April 21.
