Province 1, Morang, Biratnagar, Ward 4
Locals of Biratnagar metropolitan city wards 4 and 5, Jamunganchi staged a symbolic demonstration by starting a movement in social media against the delayed development activities in the area west of the highway. In constituency No. 6 of Morang, Congress leader UML leader Lal Babu Pandit was elected by defeating Dr Shekhar Koirala. Similarly, UML Metropolitan Committee Chairman Sagar Thapa is also a resident of the same area. But locals are indignant that even the leaders of political parties have not paid attention to the development work in their area.
Active UML cadre and resident Manoj Vikram Shahi complained that the highway of West has been discriminated against in everything from development to construction. He also added that due to negligence and ignorant behaviour of the locals toward the delayed work has been the reason how the leaders take advantage. Another local, Uttam Dahal, accused the leader of being an obstacle even though the constitution made development work easier. He said, "People have been suffering due to the failure of development work in the area west of Lok Marg as per the standards of the metropolis."
About 3 kilometres of road from Ganesh Chowk of Biratnagar 4 and 5 to West Kesalia Khola is under maintenance. Locals have complained that the work of upgrading the road has not been completed for a long time. Accidents have been taking place time and time again due to large potholes in the road.
