Farmers who came to get coupons to sell their paddy vandalized the entrance of Agriculture Knowledege Center (Krishi Gyan Kendra), Nepalgunj on December 10 as they did not get coupons easily. The farmers had reached the Agriculture Knowledege Center at 8 in the morning. The office door opened only after 11 o'clock. The door smashed as a large number of farmers marched in an unorganized manner.
Due to the lack of systematic distribution of coupons, the farmers had to suffer and even the office was damaged. Although the large force of Nepal Police and Armed Police Force calmed the farmers, the distribution of coupons was not made easy even afterwards.
The arrangement has been made for the farmers who have taken one coupon to sell 30 quintals of paddy. A farmer needs to get another coupon to sell others. Farmers are selling paddy cheaply in the market. The government is buying paddy at a better price. Farmers who had come to Nepalgunj from different parts of the district to sell paddy at a slightly better price have returned after being beaten by the police. The Agriculture Knowledge Center has stopped the distribution of coupons saying that the coupons will be distributed on another date.
