Students of Triyuga Secondary School stage demonstration in Udayapur demanding books


Students of Triyuga Secondary School staged a demonstration in Gaighat on July 12, agitating after Janak Sikshya Samagri was unable to distribute books in the market. The students claimed that they had to demonstrate because they were unable to buy books even after it has been three months since the academic year started. Raj Kumar Ojha, principal of Jyoti Secondary School, Beltar, Chaudandigarhi municipality-7, said that there was a dearth of textbooks for basic grade 7 and secondary grade 9 textbooks. According to Chaturnarayan Chaudhary, proprietor of a common bookstore in Gaighat, which has been selling textbooks to 32 community schools around the district headquarters since last year, there is a shortage of textbooks for classes 6, 7, 8, 9 and 10. He says that there is a shortage of compulsory English for class 9 in the entire district.
