Cadres of student union affiliated to  the CPN (Maoist) led by Netra Bikram Chand (Biplava) has burnt the effigy of  Education Minister Devendra Poudel on Wednesday demanding his resignation. The All Nepal National Independent Students' Union (Krantikari) affiliated to the party has burnt the idol of Minister Poudel in protest against the failure to distribute textbooks to students on time.

A group of students including party leaders and cadres had gathered at Adivasi Chowk in Gaighat district headquarters at around 3 pm. Party district secretary Laxman Poudyal, district members Min Prasad Pokhrel, Jit Bahadur Pulami and all party president Dehaj Bisht were present on the occasion.

Chairman Bista said that the effigy of the Education Minister was burnt in protest of not providing textbooks to the students on time. He suggested that the Education Minister, who could not provide the textbooks by the time of the quarterly examination, resign immediately, saying that he did not have the right to sit in the chair even for a minute.
