The international community including the UN has asked the political parties to continue to have dialogue while expressing concern over the rising tension among them. Issuing a press statement on January 21, they urged the parties to continue constitution dialogue with flexibility and importance for the sake of larger national interest. UN Resident Coordinator Jamie McGoldrick, on the behalf of the international community, called on the parties to double up the efforts to ensure an inclusive constitution. Saying that the constitution was a document having an impact for a long time to come, he stressed its peaceful implementation and that the Nepalis needed to provide broad support for the constitution to ensure stability. Regretting the violence and threat of violence, the international community has also called on the parties to return to the table for discussion. They have also reminded the party leaders that it was a chance to play an influential role to fulfill the historic responsibility.
