Resident of 14 VDCs affected by toxic chemicals in Aurahi River

 Local residents of 14 VDCs in Mahottari district are seriously affected by the harmful toxic chemicals disposed of by Dhanusa based Everest paper mill in Aurahi river since the last three decades. Local people, cattles and even water animals have fallen victim to the toxic chemical thrown by the paper mill. Senior health worker Girendra Jha of District health office told that local people are increasingly suffering from skin diseases after coming in contact with the toxic laden river water and also many cattles have died by consuming the water. Due to high acidity in the Aurahi river it has also been deemed unfit for irrigation. By the time the river reaches it's mouth in india it affects nearly one lakh and fifty thousand people of mahottari district.
