Bagmati, Nuwakot, Belkotgadhi

Three persons in Bageswari VDC of Nuwakot have been injured after being beaten by police during the discussion over relief distribution. Due to the police's beating Sahadev Sapkota of Bageswari VDC-7 has broken his tooth and required stitches in his lip. Similarly, Jit Bahadur Khale has sustained the injury in his eye and Bharat Tamang's right leg has been fractured. The three injured said that police attacked them under the instruction of a local leader of Nepali Congress. Local villagers surrounded Bageswari Police Station demanding action against those responsible for the attack and compensation to the three injured victims. Bageswari Police Station remained tense throughout Friday night due to the incident. Locals have been complaining that only a handful of resourceful and connected people were receiving relief material in large quantity while the original victims of the earthquake went empty-handed. Nuwakot district secretary of UCPN Maoist, Pushna Lamichane demanded the local administration to distribute the relief material in a fair and transparent manner. He strongly condemned the attack upon the victims of the earthquake who had come to enquire about relief by the police under the direction of few clever and resourceful men.
